Community Auto

Community Auto is a model concept; an innovative social enterprise, which merges the best in social concerns with responsible business practices. Whereas the church meets individuals at a spiritual level, the mission of Community Auto is to meet members of the community at a more physical level, the need some have for low cost reliable transportation. We believe that vehicle ownership not only enhances the quality of one’s life, but can also be a major stride towards freedom and independence. Similar in scope to the local thrift shop concept; we accept vehicle donations strictly with the intent of refurbishing and redistribution back into the community.

The singular act of accepting donated vehicles improves the environment, provides tax relief and, for local businesses, promotion. We handle all of the paperwork and vehicle retrieval. All donations are fully deductible.

Our vehicles get repaired, if needed and inspected before transfer. Through the repair process, we bring donations to full potential. Often, we use the services of outside mechanics. Not only does this produce good will toward our mission; it activates the local economy while helping to stimulate honest labor.

Community Auto is founded on the principle of helping others to help themselves. Rather than giving a hand out, we feel that we give a ‘help up’. We believe that vehicle ownership not only enhances the quality of one’s life, but can also be a major stride towards freedom and independence.

In the interest of professionalism and good stewardship, our goal is to bring full value to all contributions in the most cost-effective way. We prefer to accept all donations, if we can. A car that others may see as having no value may have one part that we can use to get a car running for the next person.

Currently, we have a wait time of over two weeks. As we grow, we aim to speed up our repair process answering individual requests more quickly, as the need can often be urgent. We desire to reach the whole person, and we know that we can only do this by doing our part. If you or someone you know needs a reliable, low cost vehicle, call us for help. If you would like to use your  car to help another, Community Auto would like to contribute our  part to your gift.  If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity or just want  some more information, call Randy or Terra at 724-443-8300.
